Most businesses assume their host backs up their site. Sometimes it does, often only for a few days, stored on the same infrastructure, and with no guarantee it restores cleanly. When a site is hacked, an update goes wrong, or someone deletes the wrong page, that assumption gets tested.

How long should backups be kept?
